Kadriorg 302

The anniversary of the Kadriorg palace and park ensemble is celebrated each year on 22 July because on this day in 1718 the Russian emperor Peter the Great and the Italian architect Nicola Michetti came to the area and set down the general plans for the future park and palace. This year, 302 years will have passed from that moment. To celebrate the birthday of the Kadriorg district, the museums located in the historical buildings of the park ensemble (i.e. the Kadriorg Art Museum, the Mikkel Museum, the Children’s Museum Miiamilla, the House of Peter the Great and the Eduard Vilde Museum), together with Kadriorg Park, will organise a festival full of educational and entertaining activities for all age groups, lessons on history and culture, and unforgettable musical experiences.

The festivities will start with an exciting adventure game entitled “Games in the Palace Garden” with interesting and fun tasks, which will lead players to various museums in Kadriorg to test their creativity, skills and wit. Adults who are interested in flowers are invited to walks around the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden with experienced gardeners as guides, and there will be a flower market from which you can purchase fragrant plants loved in the Baroque era, as well as present-day favourites in gardens.

The highlight of the day will be the gala in the Flower Garden. The concert programme has been put together in the best tradition of Baroque court opera, in which vocal numbers are interspersed with dance acts. The concert will be a kind of time travel, from the 18th century to the present day.

The Kadriorg 302 programme is dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the Flower Garden and the permanent exposition of the Kadriorg Art Museum.

Open air activities are free of charge, and entrance to each of the museums is one Euro.
