Big Painting Saturday is an inspirational, playful and educational art festival that takes place in Kadriorg each year, on the last Saturday in May. The museum welcomes all art and nature lovers no matter their age or experience.
The task of the art museum is to preserve, examine and show artworks as widely as possible. We organise this event annually to give everyone a chance to enjoy the process of making art and the fruits of artists’ labour.
Throughout the day, there will be themed tours and drawing classes in the Kadriorg Art Museum, as well as en plein air drawing and painting in the Baroque park surrounding the palace. The art museum welcomes to Big Painting Saturday both professional and amateur painters, and all children and adults who love art.
This year we cannot come together to paint or to participate in tours and master classes, so the Kadriorg Art Museum has decided to bring Big Painting Saturday into the homes of all art lovers!
On the museum’s homepage or on the Facebook event page, you can follow video lectures and webinars. We also invite everyone to draw and paint flowers on their windows, in their gardens, in parks and elsewhere. Everyone who enjoys making art is welcome to join!
Tag your activities on social media with the hashtag #suurmaalilaupäev.
Take a photo of your completed work of art and share it with us in the virtual gallery on the event’s Facebook page or send it to us by e-mail kadriorg@ekm.ee (max. size of a photo: 5 MB). We will collect photos until 23 June.
Be sure to also pick your favourite from the picture gallery, as the most voted for pictures will win prizes: the main prize will be a special tour of the Kadriorg Art Museum for up to ten people. The second and third place winners will receive free annual passes to the Kadriorg Art Museum and the Mikkel Museum. In addition, there will be a drawing among all of the participants in which we will hand out Kadriorg Museum guidebooks, Kadriorg Park guidebooks and rose catalogues.
Winners will be announced on 1 July.
